Louis Vuitton series underwayWynyard Quarter is buzzing with the excitement of the Louis Vuitton Pacific Series, currently being raced in the Waitemata Harbour so spectators can catch all the action. The series provides a new way for international teams to go head to head in big boats, and crews include those from the America's Cup competition, the Olympics and the World Match Racing circuit. The 10 teams from nine countries will compete in two pairs of boats - two from Emirates Team New Zealand and two from BMW Oracle Racing - until February 13. Spectators will have a good view from the shore, with the racing bound by Rangitoto Island, North Head and Bastion Point. Down in Wynyard Quarter there's plenty of action too. Everyone is welcome at the sailing village around the bases on Halsey Street, where they can get up close to the race boats and crew or watch televised racing and the Virtual Eye on the big screen. During race weekend the village and viaduct will also have nightly live entertainment. To catch up with the live action and other information, listen in to BSport sailing 103FM. |
